Plaintiff was abused by her stepfather growing up. He had previously been convicted of rape of a child prior to abusing plaintiff. Despite this, WSDOC and the Department of Children, Youth, and Families failed to fully and appropriately take action, and the abuse continued for around a decade. Plaintiff was awarded $42 million.
