Plaintiff was in a car accident on the highway. She and her fiance had a toddler together. They called 911 from the edge of the causeway. A tractor trailer driver did not notice their car on the highway until it was almost too late and swerved onto the shoulder to avoid it, striking plaintiff and her fiance. Her fiance was killed, and plaintiff sustained severe injuries. Jurors awarded $17.2 million.
